After
Mary S. of Ellicott City read the book she wrote us saying:
"I read 101 Excuses and realized that John had already used about 50 of the
excuses on me. When he made the excuses they seemed to make sense, but
after
I read your book I realized the truth. He just didn't want to stop
drinking!
Two weeks ago he came home smelling like a brewery and he proceeded to make
an excuse for his drinking. I didn't say anything, but went to the bedroom
and looked at your book. I came back out and said to John "number
56". He
asked me what I meant and I told him that his excuse was so lame and old it
was written in a book. There wasn't anything he could say.
Since that time I refuse to accept any of John's excuses. He finally came
to
me yesterday and said that he'd been thinking, and maybe it was time to do
something about his drinking. I don't know what's going to happen yet, but
I
am so grateful that your book opened my eyes. I recommend it to anyone who
has a drinker in their life. Thank you."
Everyone with an alcohol problem has "good reasons" that they drink.
Family
and friends want to believe them. The fact is that there are no
"reasons" to
drink abusively, but there are a world of EXCUSES. You owe it to yourself,
your loved ones and to the abusive drinker in your life to recognize these
excuses for what they are and to stop accepting them. When excuses are no
longer accepted, the problem drinker often has to take a hard look at his or
her drinking and begins to see the damage that alcohol has caused. It
could
be the beginning of recovery.

Darla W., a heroin addict said:
I knew a lot about using junk, I just didn't know how to
stop. Your book helped a lot. I'm trying to follow the advice in the
book and so far things are going pretty good.
Jerry said:
Like you said, I'm having a hard time staying away from my
"friends.” I know they are not really my friends and
following the advice in your book helps. I'm going to make it.
Mrs. H. stated:
I guess I was blind. Things were missing from my house and I couldn't
figure out why. A friend gave me your book and it opened my eyes. I
found out that both my son and my daughter were using heroin and couldn't stop.
As you know, they came to your outpatient detox. They are following
their counselor's suggestions and what a difference in them. I know it
takes time for recovery and I pray that they continue to do well. Thank
you very much
