HEROIN AND OTHER OPIATES

Heroin use has become an epidemic in our society.  It is easy to get (just look in the newspapers about heroin availability) and relatively cheap (in the beginning).  Most importantly heroin is exceptionally pure today.  This means that people no longer have to use needles to inject the drug.  Most young people get started by "snorting" (sniffing) heroin.  With the stigma of the needle gone, more and more people are beginning to experiment with heroin.  Unfortunately, heroin experimentation almost always leads to HEROIN ADDICTION.

Baltimore was just recently given the "distinction" of being the heroin center of America.  Other cities are not far behind.  No community is immune from the heroin problems.  The drug is in the inner cities, the suburbs, and rural communities.  It is in the "best" and "worst" areas.
Other opiate drugs are also a huge problem.  Prescription medications like Oxycontin®, Percodan®, Percocet®, and other narcotics are fairly easily available "on the street".  There are some people who have taken narcotic drugs under the advice of a physician and have unfortunately become addicted. When the physician stops prescribing these "painkillers", people often turn to drugs "on the street", because withdrawal from the drugs is a very painful
process.  Many "normal, stable" citizens eventually turn to heroin because the effects on the brain and body are exactly the same as the medicine they had been prescribed.
Heroin has always, deservedly, had very negative connotations.  The reality is, however, that friends and families must know the facts about heroin and other opiates if they wish to help their loved ones.
The book Heroin Hell was written by a Licensed Professional Alcohol and Drug Counselor, who was a consultant at one of the country's most famous Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers, Father Martin's Ashley, and is currently a consultant at the state-of-the-art facility, Phoenix Recovery Center.  He also is the Director of an Outpatient Detox facility for opiate drugs and an outpatient addictions treatment facility, Heroin Hell provides vital information to families and friends of heroin and opiate addicts and also provides important information for the addict him or herself to help in gaining a lasting recovery. No one wants to believe that someone they love could be a heroin or other opiate addict, but they absolutely can.  Reading this book could save the life of a husband, wife, son or daughter.  This is NOT an overstatement. Heroin and other opiate addiction KILLS.
